Take a few moments today to reflect about all you have to be thankful for in your life - both personally and professionally. With all the focus on negative news and situations, there is still a lot of good in the world and in your life. Look for them!

Tell those you love and care about in your personal life how much they mean to you! Tell those who work with you how much you appreciate their contribution every day! It's the little things in life that make such a big difference!

Nowhere do we need “positive energy” more than in the workplace.

We all know people who possess it, and usually we look forward to their contributions and interacting with them.  Whether senior managers or front line workers, they have gained the deep respect and admiration of most of the workforce. 

So, Power Up!  Take a look at some basic tips toward becoming such a person yourself. 

Top 10 Ways to Become Someone YOU Would Respect & Admire at Work

10. Never lie.  Period!
9. Really listen to people, paraphrasing what you think you hear to check understanding.
8. Accept responsibility for all of your feelings. No one “makes me feel” anything.
7. Don’t talk about people behind their backs.  What goes around comes around.
6. Don’t spread rumors, if you can avoid it.  Check it out at the source first.
5. Refrain from, or respectfully confront, disrespectful and inappropriate jokes, gossip, plots and conspiracies. There is almost always someone nearby who will appreciate it.
4. Catch people being nice, and/or doing good work, and call them on it.
3. If wronged, avoid the temptation to seek revenge. It hurts you more than it hurts them.
2. Don’t hold grudges.  They don’t look good on you.

Number 1. Accept responsibility for your words and actions,
especially your mistakes. Personal power means never fearing to say you’re sorry.
